Passion for Music

A published composer and arranger, John is the recipient of numerous grants, awards and commissions which presently continue to keep him busy.

Family Life and Philanthropy

John and his wife, Gail Ferguson Stout, reside in the cultural community of Ann Arbor, Michigan. They are the proud parents of two college-age children and are staunch community advocates. As active volunteers and philanthropists, John and Gail support the fine and visual arts, Ann Arbor’s public school programs, and grassroots efforts in community building, education, and athletics at local and national levels.

Together, John and Gail endowed an annual scholarship for the University of Michigan Marching Band. John is a board member for the Marching Band’s annual giving program, The Elbel Club.
